It is extremely difficult to write today's post. I am still struggling to find the words to make sense of Terence Crutcher's murder. And I don't think I will, because it doesn't make sense. We are seeing this happen time and time again across our country. Why is this still acceptable behavior by our police departments in America? Referring to a Black man as a "thing" or "big bad dude". We all know and see the problem and yet still no change. If you can't see that something wrong is going on in society, then you are apart of the problem.
We posted a couple weeks back about NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem. It became a very controversial topic and continued to be...at least until today. All of the people who were in an uproar against those NFL players that chose to kneel during the anthem sit quietly today. Not a word has been spoken either for or against. They are sitting silent today. Refusing to acknowledge the real issue that the NFL players were kneeling for. Silence Speaks Volumes. They were taking a knee for exactly what happened to Terence Crutcher. Another Father, Husband, Brother, Son, Cousin, Student, Human Life has been taken for no other reason than the color of his skin. There is nothing anyone can say that will convince me otherwise. Nothing Terence Crutcher did warranted a death wish. Nothing Terence Crutcher was doing should have prevented from seeing his family that night.
What really gets me, is that in the same news cycle. The suspect for the two bombings in New Jersey and New York was in a shootout, apprehended, taken to the hospital, and is now under arrest. Or the arrest of the Charleston Church bombing. He was arrested and taken into custody without any incident whatsoever, and he murdered 9 innocent Black people...that were at church. Can people honestly see these stories and not see what is wrong here?
I can only hope and pray that Betty Shelby is held accountable and responsible for the murder of Terence Crutcher.
