If you are anticipating a detailed film review/analysis that gives you all the spoiler alerts, then let me give you some relief, I still have not seen the movie. However, I am definitely part of the minority, since at this point, according to Deadline Hollywood reports, the Warner Bros. film Batman Vs Superman has grossed over $200 million in domestic box offices and over $500 million globally. Experts also believe it will pull in another $60 million (give or take a few million) making it one of the highest grossing super hero films, and still the main attraction for moviegoers as it enters its second weekend.
Am I surprised, kind of. Personally when I saw the previews for this movie my first reaction was, "Why the hell is Ben Affleck going to be the new Batman?" And then I thought, "why are they even making a new Batman?" To me it was the studios trying to push way too much super hero themed films down audiences throats, and I felt director Zack Snyder (whom I have an immense amount of respect for) wouldn't be able to overcome the challenge of bringing a compelling identity to Batman, since we were so fond of Christian Bale and what director Christopher Nolan was able to accomplish in his trilogy of the "Dark Knight". Though Nolan helped Snyder develop the revamped "Man of Steel" to much success, I felt like bringing both of these super characters into the DC universe, would prove to be a huge mistake, and I feared another Daredevil film would ensue.
Yet, even though I have not seen the film, it is clear that the public has spoken, and Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice has resonated amongst a vast majority of comic book enthusiasts and regular movie audiences alike, or at least the numbers would lead one to that assumption. Check out the trailer (below) and be sure tell us what you thought about it, we'd love to hear your opinion!
